The Artists of Todos Santos (ARTS) and Visions Gallery are preparing for the Second Annual Juried Photo Show. Diane Knight, chairperson of ARTS, states that last year’s photo show exceeded all expectations and is being eagerly anticipated by both amateur and professional photographers throughout Southern Baja. This may well be the largest show ever mounted by the group.
Open to all Baja photographers, locals, part-time residents and visitors are all invited to enter up to five photos in the competition. The selected pieces will be shown in Visions Gallery from January 13 through February 21. Separate exhibition space will be provided for those with and those without proper authority to sell their work in Mexico. Each piece entered will require a non-refundable fifty peso entry fee. No piece may be larger than 24” X 24”, including framing, no exceptions. Each piece must be properly mounted and/or framed and ready for hanging with back wire.
The judges will select winners in two categories representing images taken in Baja and an open category for any subject of the photographers’ choosing. This year’s judges are professional photographer Bryan Walwork from Vancouver Island, British Columbia and American photographer Linda Sue Scott from San Francisco, both of whom are flying in specifically to judge the show. They will be available the night of the show opening to make comments on their choices and photography in general.
Photographers can deliver their pieces to Visions Gallery at Cafelix Coffee & Kitchen, in Todos Santos from noon to 4 p.m., January 9th or 10th. There will be a gala opening party featuring presentation of the awards for best in show and two runners up in each category January 13, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Cabo San Lucas musician Todd Clouser will be performing. Opening night guests will be asked to select a “People’s Choice” winner in each category.
